FAQS
Q. What’s the difference between a fixed rate and a fixed cost?
A. A fixed rate for electricity and natural gas, is a price per unit of consumption (kilowatt hours or cubic feet) for a specified period of time and often for a specified quantity. While fixed rates can produce some cost savings over standard utility rates, your monthly expense is still based on your variable consumption in any given month. Fixed rate contracts do not include distribution costs, which continue to be billed and increased separately by the local utility. Q. How is my fixed monthly payment determined?
A. Your fixed monthly payment is calculated by applying our proprietary structuring and forecasting technology against prior usage data.
Q. Will my monthly payment be raised if energy rates go up?
A. Your payment is always guaranteed to remain the same for at least 12 months. If any changes in your monthly payment are required, you will be notified 12 months prior to the change and be reminded monthly that the change will be made.
Q. Will I still receive utility bills if I participate in the Energy Advantage program?
A. Celeren receives and pays any bills from utilities and third-party energy suppliers. You will receive a reminder of your next monthly payment and a monthly Summary Report that includes consumption data, a re-price notice (if necessary) as well as other useful information.
Q. Who do I call if I have a problem such as a power outage or gas leak?
A. The local utility is responsible for handling these matters. Every monthly Summary Report will include utility service and repair contact information. Your Celeren Customer Service representative can also assist with utility contacts.
Q. What if I sell the facility during membership in the Energy Advantage Program?
A. Membership in the Energy Advantage Program is fully transferable to a new owner, pending credit approval. If a transfer does not occur, simply discontinue your membership prior to the sale closing.
Q. What if I make changes to the facility that cause higher or lower consumption of electricity and/or natural gas?
A. If there is a sustained material change, your monthly payment will be adjusted accordingly. The resulting change will take effect 30 days after written notification.
Q. How do I get started in Energy Advantage Program?
A. We simply need your permission to access your utility accounts and obtain some historical information about your usage. With that information, we establish your monthly payment and offer you a participation agreement. Once you sign the agreement, you’re in and a Customer Service representative will guide you through the first month transition.
Q. When do I renew my membership in the Energy Advantage Program?
A. Membership in the Energy Advantage Program continues until you decide to discontinue it.
Q. Can I cancel Energy Advantage Program?
A. Yes. You can cancel the Energy Advantage Program by notifying a customer service representative at least 30 days prior to your month of discontinuance. During that time Celeren will reestablish your billing with the local utility and other suppliers, transfer any supplier agreements in place and close your account.
